LETTERS FROM THE FRONT
- A Tribute
From the large surviving collection of letters and diaries written by
soldiers to their families here in Yass during
World War 1, a selection
has been made for presentation on Saturday, 7th November.
Woven through the program and supported by the Hall Village Brass Band
will be songs, verse and band music of the years 1914-1918
The evening will start with a short film,“The Hero
of the Dardanelles”, introduced by its producer, Marilyn Dooley
of the National Sound
and Film Archive.
Those to be especially remembered include:
Reg Kenny, Harold-Williamson,
Roy Davis,
Frank Coen, Clem-McGrath
and
Cecil-Weatherby.
We recongise them as ordinary people who became extraordinary by their
courage and convictions. Their shared thoughts reflect a whole gamut of
emotions. Together they add much to our knowledge and appreciation of those
who served their country. |
