We have not forgotten
By
   Cheryl Mongan and Richard Reid

We have not forgotten, written by Cheryl Mongan and Richard Reid will be launched by the Honorable Bruce Scott, M.P., Minister for Veterans Affairs, under the auspices of the Yass and District Historical Society during the Yass Remembers 1918 Armistice Celebrations on Saturday 7th November 1998.

The book addresses the involvement of people from the Yass district in the Great War of 1914-18. Some of the issues covered are recruitment, overseas service, the war effort at home, the effects of the war in a rural community and the commemorative aftermath.

Official records relating to service, the missing and wounded, awards and decorations, together with letters and diaries from more than 100 local soldiers have provided extensive material for the publication.  Details of some 1,300 enlisted personnel with connections to the Yass district will be given, with extensive information on the 282 men who never returned.

The authors view their book as a "pause for breath in the on-going conversation with the sources which have been used to discover the echoes of the Great War in Yass and district."
